I know you're sick of me doing this but, DOLLHOUSE [May. 7th, 2009|07:00 pm]
[Tags|, ]

I think I have a new illness.  Let's call it "Firefly/Tru Calling Remorse Syndrome."  It is a psychological disorder that developed as a direct result of my inaction when Firefly (created by Joss Whedon) and Tru Calling (starring Eliza Dushku) were both cancelled by Fox.  But, thanks to the mass-communicative power of the internet (specifically Twitter) I have a chance to cure/redeem myself and quite possibly save Dollhouse from the same fate.  Won't anyone help me?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I found this amazing article about Dollhouse and just had to comment.

"Thank you for the wonderful article.  One of the biggest problems I noticed, besides the slow start, was the poor placement of Dollhouse on a Friday night.  In today's world of easily accessable entertainment, Fox needs to be looking at more than just Nielson ratings.  On-demand tv (hulu), DVR's, and simply waiting till a season comes out on DVD are the new ways that we watch our shows, especially if it has long arcs and involved mythologies (i.e. Lost, Heroes, Fringe, etc.).  One can only hope that between a stunning finale, pre-ordered DVD's, and a massive effort by devoted fans that Dollhouse will be back next season and for many more after that."

To see the original article, go here: http://featuresblogs.chicagotribune.com/entertainment_tv/2009/05/dollhouse-finale-omega-fox-whedon.html

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And then I did it again, but this time on someone's blog about the feminist themes.

"Oh my God.  That was an amazing essay.  I, however did love Buffy but I understand where you're coming from.  What you have to get is that Buffy was marketed to a much larger audience and specifically geared towards a younger crowd in their teens.  This "younger crowd" needed more obvious/broadly drawn characters and plots in order to understand the issues that Joss was trying to put out there on the table (i.e. love, sex, friendship, feminism, drinking, rape, drug addiction, etc.).  And I thought he did a wonderful job.  Dollhouse is the show set up for that same "younger crowd" now all grown up and ready for a more nuanced and layered drama.  It tackles the same issues as Buffy but in a more unexpected way with all the great story-telling we have come to expect from Joss Whedon."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And then I wrote fox broadcasting an e-mail.  You can send one too: askfox@fox.com

"Hello Fox Friends,
It would be greatly appreciated if you could both renew Dollhouse for a second season and also air "Epitaph One."  This show has a massive cult following and is so well written.  It is sure to gain more audience members if renewed and placed on a better night.  Please don't forget to consider people watching the show online, recording it with their DVR's, and pre-ordering DVD's as we speak.  Thank you for your consideration."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And finally, I sent fox broadcasting a tweet.  You can send one too.

"@foxbroadcasting Just sent you an e-mail asking to renew #dollhouse & air Epitaph One. Just give us season 2 & let me have my life back."

Ok, I am a total tv whore...I admit it. There is pretty much nothing on the boob-tube that I can turn away from, even the CW's amazing drama of Gossip Girl. I think it was created by the same people who did The OC but it is soooo much better. You know what, I didn't even like The OC. Anyways, I've been catching up on last season of G.G. and saw one of the most amazing endings ever.

[music |Have You Passed Through This Night?~Explosions in the Sky]

This great evil - where's it come from?
How'd it steal into the world?
What seed, what root did it grow from?
Who's doing this?
Who's killing us, robbing us of life and light, mocking us with the sight of what we mighta known?
Does our ruin benefit the earth, aid the grass to grow and the sun to shine?
Is this darkness in you, too?
Have you passed through this night?

Shopping [Aug. 10th, 2007|06:11 pm]
[mood | accomplished]
[music |The Godfather]

Today, Jackie had a hair appointment to get it cut and her color redone. So, while she was doing that, Terry (Jackie's Mom) and I went to the PICU to visit Jackie's cousin who was stung by a bee the other day and had a really bad reaction. After that we went to Cielo Vista Mall.

Now, I usually don't like going to the mall but there are two reasons for this: 1) My mom called me and told me that JC Penny's had a huge Clearence Sale and that I should buy some more formal/work clothes. 2) My mom called me again and said that Jackie and I should visit the hospital I was born at...I reminded her that Beaumont is a miltary hospital and we can't go there. So, she said, "Well, I guess you can visit the place where my water broke...I think it was Cielo Vista Mall."

So I went to Ceilo Vista Mall and bought $508.78 worth of pants, shirts, ties, and belts. But after all the discounts, it only cost me $245.34. Good deal, no?

Tonight Jackie and I are going to see a band. Tomorrow we're going to get some Chucks and then go to Mexico. Busybusybusy. See you all soon.

Ok,you know when you lose or destroy your cell phone and you try to get in contact through facebook, lj, myspace, etc to get people to contact you with their numbers? Well my old friend from high school sent me the following message in a posted note on facebook. I almost died laughing. Her message follows:

Anneke's Phone fell in the pool but Deathly Hallows is dry!!!!

I tripped and my towel my book and my phone began to fall into the pool.....in those few seconds my brain chose to save my most prised possesion.....my book so here we stand.

Gryffindor
You belong in Gryffindor! You are probably really brave and willing to try anything once. You are loyal to your friends and you look out for them because you trust them. You know what is right and what is wrong and you always make the decision that your heart tells you.
